Political Printing: Lawn Signs
Topic: UncategorizedHello there!
In a previous post I wrote a little about how the political season is upon us. Again it has been going on for quite a while. Every other commercial you fast forward through on your DVR is probably about a candidate. Now, I’m not saying that campaigning isn’t important. It certainly is. The main reason those commercials are so repetitive is so we remember the name(s). This is because there are a lot of people who exercise their right to vote and maybe their main concern is only about one position. However there are multiple positions to vote for and it seems only logical that said person would choose candidates of whom they’ve heard of versus names they’re just seeing for the first time. This is a long winded way of saying that the same goes for lawn signs.
Lawns Signs: Why They Matter…
I like to think of lawn signs as a slightly more interactive while simultaneously passive part of campaigning. This statement makes no real sense so I’ll explain. Lawn signs to me are more so passive than they are active, but that does not mean they aren’t effective. You see them throughout your neighborhoods lining the roads, typically spaced out although there are times where there are a ton in a row. You don’t think too much about them but each time you see the same one you are further exposed to that name. Eventually you are going to at least recognize the names; especially if they are mixed among ones you’ve never seen in your life.
Where the whole concept of lawn signs becomes more interactive are their placement. Sure you’ll see them in public areas, but a lot of the time we see them on front lawns of homes. the residents of the home have to give permission for the placement. Therefore this is a casual way for someone to help campaign for a candidate they believe in. For many this is a great option. Everyday people like you and I don’t always have the time to be as involved as we may want. This way you can do something without having to reschedule your whole life.
Still Do Your Research Folks
Whether or not you like the commercials or the lawn signs because of how repetitive it all seems, they work. The names may not sit at the front our brains, and we may not even be able to remember them in a casual conversation. However seeing them in front of you will provide a sense of familiarity that you have been conditioned to feel. And it’s nothing to be ashamed of. We should all inform ourselves on the candidates and decide which ones resonate with our ideals the best. The reality of it though is that we live in a society where we are constantly doing something. People to see and places to be, as the saying goes. Because of that not everyone has the time to sit down and do detailed research about each candidate. The commercials and lawn signs can provide the convenience of almost a snapshot of a candidate. However I do still recommend using the commercials and signs as a jumping off point and doing the general research on the candidates.
Where We Fit In Here
This is a very long build up to say we print some of those campaigns signs here. Something I’m curious about is, if the decision of which printing press to use is a political one. I definitely feel like I’m over thinking it. But I am curious as to whether or not picking a big or small business is a purposeful decision. This is just speculation; however if you have any thoughts or insight into this please go over to our Facebook and leave a comment on our most recent post.
Thank you so much for sitting through my ramblings. I do hope however that you were able to make some sense of it, and I was able to provide some insight to this topic as a normal person with no real expertise in this field.
